About

Hello, I'm Mala

I'm a UX/UI and Product Designer with about eight years of experience, now based in Toronto, Canada. I've designed across enterprise software, fintech, design systems, education technology and consumer products.

I design experiences that make fintech less scary, e-commerce more fun, SaaS less clunky, and data analytics actually usable. Insurance and edtech? Been there, fixed that.

My work sits where art and technology meet. I care about the structure underneath — flows, systems, the boring-but-vital edge cases — and about the surface people actually see and feel.

From blueprints to products

Bachelor of Architecture. I started with blueprints and buildings — learning how space, structure and people's movement shape an experience.

Master's in Product Design. Then I moved into pixels and products, bringing that industrial-design rigour to digital work.

Now I design experiences that are as functional as they are beautiful.

How I work

Research-driven, user-focused, impact-driven. Strategy and creativity in the same room.

  1. 01

    Discover

Talk to people, read the data, map the mess before touching a pixel.

  2. 02

    Define

Name the real problem — the one the business and the user both feel.

  3. 03

    Design

Explore widely, then commit to structure, systems and craft.

  4. 04

    Test & iterate

Put it in front of users, measure, and refine until it earns its place.

Off the clock, I make things

Painting, illustration, ceramics and graphic experiments keep my eye sharp and my hands busy. It's where the WADe Asia Young Artist Award came from — and where a lot of my visual instincts get tested first.
